There are many many parallels between the Spartans and the Romans. Plutarch mentions this specifically, that there are many Greek imitations amongst the Romans.

I did research on what a republic is and have come to some outstanding conclusions. One of them that Cicero remarks the beginning of the Republic with the Romulus and Titius Tatius a Sabine King. The Sabines claimed to be a colony from Sparta.

Corinth is a Doric city along with Tarentum in Italy and the other Greek city-states of Sicily. I have written an article here called the Classical definition of a republic and the same style of government that the Spartans had, the Romans had as well. The Spartan upper house was called the Gerousia, the Old Men, and the Roman word for their upper house is Senatus, Old Men. Not only are the military headgear of the Romans Spartan knockoffs but also their form of government. The Spartan government is a Republic and it is they that influenced the Romans.

Please check out that link and let me know what you think and I would really like to nail down the Greek influence on the Romans. I did not know that the Etruscans were also influenced by the Greek, I thought that of only the Sabines.

I also have two more papers that you might be interested in:
The Spartan Republic
http://www.sparta.markoulakispublications.org.uk/index.php?id=105

The Confusing State of Sparta
http://www.sparta.markoulakispublications.org.uk/index.php?id=130W.LindsayWheelerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06236577164127792348noreply@blogger.com
