Virtual Pompeii Walking Tour - 3rd 30 minute segment

The 3rd 30 minutes of the 5 hour walking tour of Pompeii includes the Forum Baths (men's section - the women's section is still being restored), thermopolia, and bakeries supplying the majority of inhabitants with their daily sustenance since usually only the wealthier homes included kitchens. You will also see the Herculaneum Gate, the Herculaneum Gate necropolis, the Villa of Diomede, and the House of Sallust.

The House of Sallust, originally built during the Samnite period in the 4th century BCE, was eventually expanded and converted to a hotel in the 2nd century BCE. It was originally called the House of Actaeon because of a beautiful fresco depicting the myth of Actaeon in the expanded addition housing the women's quarters. Fortunately, it was captured in a wonderful watercolor by Josef Theodor Hansen in 1886 before it was destroyed in an Allied bombing raid in 1943. Several years ago I researched the structure for three months including translating relevant sections of the Pompeianarum Antiquitatum Historia so I could comprehensively expand the English Wikipedia article for it. If you look at the first image on the right in the Wikipedia article, you will see the thermopolium in the photograph below in the background from the opposite perspective. I was hoping to explore more of the house on the virtual walk but it only included the one viewpoint. The videographer did not record the rooms viewable from the other gated apertures.
Here's a link to the House of Sallust article on Wikipedia:
All of these images are screen captures from Pompeii Walking Tour 2020 video courtesy of the POMPEII ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK and ProWalk Tours. Note: ProWalk Tours as producer of the original video footage has agreed to allow my derivative still images to be licensed with Creative Commons Attribution Sharealike. I have used Topaz Sharpen AI to remove the slight motion blur in screen captures as well as Adobe Camera Raw to adjust clarity, texture, highlights, shadows, and occasionally haze and white balance. I increased dynamic contrast and added a subtle vignette with On1 PhotoRaw Effects and removed distracting visitors and replaced empty skies with Photoshop and its Sky Replacement feature, changing the blend mode from Screen to Multiply to avoid excessive editing of the mask layer. You can explore the video yourself here - no special hardware is required:
